The Lambs

Ramona born
    January 28, 1940
Frank born
    Feb 16, 1935

Frank and Ramona met soon after Ramona was born.  He was a month and a half short of 5 years
old when she was born, and they were in the same ward (lived just 1-1/2 blocks apart). Frank says they probably first met sometime in 1940, probably in the old Hyde Park Ward church building.

They started dating in Aug. of 1958 (about six months after he returned from his mission).
They were engaged Dec. 25th, 1958. Married June 24, 1959

As a teenager Ramona worked in the Logan LDS hospital as a nurse's aid, and also worked as a secretary at the Cache Valley Dairy Association in Amalga, UT. She was a regular babysitter most of the summers for her brother Tick and wife Rhonda, and her brother Clynn and wife Jean.

Frank's teenage jobs...worked for several different sugar beet farmers thinning sugar beets, helping
their neighbor on his combined grain harvester (both of these jobs in addition to working on the family farm).

Frank was officially on his mission from Mar 7, 1956 to Mar 7, 1958.  He also spent one week in the "Mission Home" in Salt Lake (MTCs had not been invented yet), and approximately 85 days travel to and from his mission in addition to the two years in Australia. The name of the mission was the Australian South mission which had just been split off from the Australian Mission 9 months prior to his arrival.  He spent 11 months in the mission office (he was officially the mission secretary). There were still a lot of financial loose ends as a result of splitting the missions, so he spent a lot of time dealing with that and also had the privilege of meeting each week with the mission presidency with his main responsibility being to record the minutes of the meetings.

Ramona is a wonderful pianist and comes from a musically talented family. Her sister Carol plays the piano and sax. She played in the marching band at North Cash HS. Her brother Rendell (Tick) plays trumpet. Her brother Clynn played trombone, her brother Ervin played sax, her brother Val played trumpet, accordion, clarinet and guitar.  Her father Harvey started at age 12 with his brothers in the Hyde Park band. He played mostly saxophone but also concertina (small accordion), trumpet, trombone, violin and drums. He played in several bands and an orchestra and some North Cash school dances. Ramona's mother Melba sang a little and played piano a little. She had a beautiful voice but battled some hearing loss. Every Sunday morning she would play the hymn "Welcome Welcome Sabbath Morning" to get everyone up and out of bed.

Frank was called as Bishop of the Richmond Ward, Benson Stake, UT.  January 1967-June 1968.

Again called as Bishop of the Buena Park 2nd Ward, Anaheim West Stake (name changed to Cypress Stake in about 1975), CA.  August 1970-March 1978.

Together they visited Australia in October 2007. Went to Sydney, Melbourne, and several cities & towns in Tasmania  including Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, etc.  They went on a tour of the entire island of Tasmania which is one of the Australian states. They spent about 14 days in Australia.
